The Irondale Huddle Club is extemely proud of the 2011 Knights football team. The year end banquet was held on Nov. 13th at the Mermaid Entertainment Center. Congratulations to this years Seniors and award winners. We would like to say "Thank You" to all seniors for thier accomplishments and contributions to the program, and know they will have nothing but success in their post-high school football lives. Never forget the lessons you learn, and you will always be an Irondale Knight!

For the week of Nov. 7th-11th, the weight room is open to all football players from 2:30 - 3:30 PM

Winter weight training will begin the week of Nov. 14th, with a formal weigth training program being offered by the athletics staff.  Mark your calendars and watch for updates as to how and when to register for this excellent opportunity to train during the off-season!

The next meeting of the Irondale Huddle Club will be Tuesday Nov. 8th at 6:30 PM in the Irondale Conference Room. We will be re-capping the season and tying up some loose ends. Any parent/supporter of Irondale Football is welcome to attend, and we look forward to seeing you there!

Former Irondale Knight Chinni Oji, a 2008 graduate of Irondale High School and current cornerback at St. Thomas University, has been name the MIAC conference Defensive Player of the Week. This week, we have been able to catch up wtih Coach Reetz to get his input on the coaching points and BMFO focus of the week:

The BMFO topic this week is Perseverance. We began the week watching a video that epitomized the themes from weeks 1 and 2. I wanted athletes to understand that from the love and support of those around us (Coach Felton’s week 1 theme) we find it easier to persevere through hard times. Success (Coach Oelker’s theme from week 2) is only truly experienced when it is earned through hard work and hardship. Football is such a great metaphor for life in that the flow of games, like life, is never constant. Even the best teams make mistakes or become victims of unfortunate luck. It’s not whether adversity will come our way, but rather how we’ll respond to it when it comes. Facing adversity need not be a reason to back off or stand down, but should instead serve as motivation to overcome, or as we’ve said this week “to finish strong.”
